Concrete

How thick should a residential concrete patio be?

Most residential patios are commonly built about 4 inches thick over a properly prepared and compacted base. Areas supporting heavier loads, poor soils, or unusual site conditions may need additional thickness or engineering.

Project-specific advice matters: Site conditions, local requirements, weather, access, soil, loads, and selected materials can change the right answer for a particular property.
